What a fantastic start to the term we have had!

Swimming has started this week so be sure to ensure your child gets to bed early and has nutritious food to keep their energy levels up over the next two weeks. Swimming can be very tiring!

You would have noticed our refreshed building face as you walk into the school, and this is thanks to the generous Oreb family. We are truly grateful for their time and efforts.

Our hard working P&C organised a wonderful PJ and pizza day last term and it was a huge success. They have been busy organising the Halloween Disco which is this Friday 5pm – 7pm in Waddy Hall. It would be great to see as many students there as possible.

Last week, our Room 4 and 5 students competed at Warriapendi PS for Interschool Athletics. Although we didn't win, our students showed excellent sportsmanship and persistence in their events. Mr Greer, Ms Hoff and Mr Whitely all ensured that the students had a wonderful day.

Mrs Ibbitson and Mrs Hemmingway also organised last week for selected students to attend the Showcase at Koondoola PS. Our students proudly displayed their Auslan skills and participated in a wide range of creative activities.

This Wednesday, we will be celebrating World Teacher's Day. For us, we celebrate ALL staff here at Waddington PS as we feel everyone has a role to play in teaching our students. The staff here work tirelessly to provide the best environment for our students and we are thankful for their efforts. If you get an opportunity to thank one of our staff on this special day, it would be greatly appreciated. In Week 5 Mr Keenan will be visiting the Jump Jam assembly and for a more formal goodbye to the Waddington community. I know he would love to see as many parents as possible so if you are free, please come along.

In Week 5 we will be having school photos taken. Please ensure your child is in their full school uniform. This means a school polo shirt and red pants/shorts/skirt/shorts. Please ensure students are not wearing black leggings or black shorts. If you are experiencing trouble purchasing any items of the school uniform, please let us know in the front office as we are very happy to support any family who may be finding it difficult to buy these.

Room 1 - Travelling Adventures of the Year 1 and 2's

From visiting the moon and travelling through space to flying to Antarctica last week, Room One students certainly are experiencing life in ‘new worlds’!

When the rocket landed back down in Room One at the end of last term, students had just enough time to pack their bags, grab their passports and, head to the airport to board a plane bound for Antarctica. Once checked in, they moved through security and then waited patiently in the departure lounge before being called to board Flight 101 to Antarctica. Students enjoyed on-flight snacks and a mini-movie before landing. The scenery from the plane window was exciting. Snow-covered mountains, icebergs and, even penguins could be seen. Now they will be able to spend the next few weeks exploring Antarctica and all of its marvels.

Luckily they remembered their workbooks and are still keeping up with schoolwork.

In Maths Room One have been working on ‘groups of’ and ‘lots of’. It is great to see students using concrete materials to show what they know. They have also been finding out different facts about animals that live in Antarctica and will be writing animal reports on these discoveries.

Every Thursday morning Year One and Two students have also enjoyed special time in the library with their buddy readers from Room Five. It is so great to hear the lovely discussions and sharing happening about the stories being read.

Keep working hard Room One, you are stars!!

Halloween Image 1

Just a reminder that we have the P&C Halloween Disco on this Friday 29th October. It will be held in Waddy Hall from 5pm to 7pm and costs $5 per student. This covers entry to the disco, a pizza slice and juice box.

There will be a stall on the night so please ensure your child brings along some coins too so that can purchase glow sticks, cupcakes, lolly bags, popcorn, chips, soft drinks and juice boxes on the night.

Also please remember to get your song requests in by the 27th October so we have a selection of funky tunes to dance to on the night!!

Waddington Primary School Playgroup

Waddington PS provides families in the local area with children aged between 0 - 4 years a free playgroup.

Unfortunately due to low numbers we have not been able to run Playgroup this term. If you have a child(ren)  between 0-4 and/or your child(ren) will be starting Kindy in 2022, please contact Roseworth on the number below and we can start running Playgroup once again.

It's a great way to meet other families in the area and gives your child(ren) the opportunity to socialise with other children.
