From the Principal

Welcome to Week 3 of Term 3!

I would like to say a big hello to all of the Waddington PS community again and thank you for having me back. I truly love being here and I am thrilled to be Acting Principal for this term. I know I have big shoes to fill with Mr Keenan being away, but I will do my absolute best.

There have been some positive things happening this term already. The Year 5/6 class have worked hard in getting prizes from businesses to be used for a raffle. Staff, students and their parents spent four days at The Square Mirrabooka selling tickets. I am pleased to report they raised over $600 and they can now afford to participate in one of the extra activities during their camp in Dwellingup. We would like to thank all the businesses who donated products and especially Warwick Workout who donated a gym membership. Room 5 will be having three days away on the 18th, 19th and 20th of August with Mr Greer and Mrs Gray. We know they will have a wonderful time and ensure they are living up to the Waddington PS values of Persistence, Kindness, Creativity and Courage.

In Week 1 we celebrated P&C Day where we took the opportunity to thank our amazing P&C for all the time and effort they put into our school. For a little school, we have one of the most successful P&C groups and we hope they know how grateful we are for everything they do.

Next Thursday 12th August we have a Book Week Incursion for all students. This years theme is 'Bigger, Better, Brighter!'. Notes will be going home this week and the incursion will cost $7 per child. Thank you to Ms Chivers for organising this for our Waddington students.

We are going to be having a School Board meeting this term and would love some more parent representatives. If you are interested in joining the board, please come and see me or give me a call at the school.

Room 4 Activities

We have had a busy and exciting start to the term in Room 4 with our tree planting excursion in the Koondoola Bushland and a range of other interesting projects across the curriculum. The students have been enjoying learning about the history of the the Olympic games and tracking Australia's medals in Tokyo.

In English we have been finishing off the publishing of our information reports on a mythological creature, with creative facts and a variety of interesting sentences.

Room 4 has started to build on their understanding of fractions this term with some challenging questions each week helping them to understand the vocabulary of fractions.

In art we have responded to the artwork of Peter Cromer and created collages of birds that are inspired by his colourful collages.

We are looking forward to a productive and fabulous semester ahead with plenty of fun activities planned!

Highway Heroes

________________________________________________________________________________________________

This term in Highway Heroes we are learning skills about making and keeping friends, joining in games and responding to some of the difficulties that can occur along the way.

This week your child has been introduced to The Friendliness SPICE – a handy and memorable acronym for a ‘friendliness package’. Displaying The Friendliness SPICE below would be a good focus for a discussion with your child about their friendly behaviours.
