From the Principal
Dear Waddington families,
Kaya and welcome to Week 6! We are over halfway through the term and we have all noticed a change in the weather. There have been lots of students and families unwell with this change in season, so please ensure your children are getting lots of rest and keeping up with their hygiene (cleaning hands regularly, showering nightly and washing their face each day). A reminder that this FRIDAY 2nd JUNE there is NO SCHOOL as we have a staff development day at the Swan Network. As a staff we will be completing lots of learning for the day with other schools in our network.
We would like to congratulate Mr Chris Tait (Gardener) who had a baby boy over the weekend. We are very happy for you.
We would also like to let you know that our Cleaner in Charge, Helen Brown has resigned from her position at Waddington PS for family reasons. Helen has been with us at Waddington PS for a long period of time and has become an important part of our school community. We are very sad to see her leave, however know that this is the best decision for her family. Helen will stay with us until the end of term and we will be working on finding a replacement. We would like to thank Helen for her time here at Waddington PS and wish her and her family all the best for the future.
We would like to say a big thank you to some supporters of our school. Meredith Hammat MLA and Dr Anne Aly MP for their contribution towards our student’s interschool football jersey’s. These are currently being designed by Mr Greer and mean that our students will get some fantastic jerseys to compete in when playing against our local schools.
The Lions Club of Girrawheen have also been extremely generous and donated $1,000 for our Year 5/6 camp to Dwellingup. This means a lot to our staff and students, and we are exceptionally lucky to have such support in our community.
Notes went home last week about EduDance for Year 1 – 6. The generous support of our P&C has meant that the cost is now only $5 per student. The classes will start in Term 3 and in Week 10 we will have a concert where students will be able to showcase their amazing skills. This is an opportunity for our students to push outside their comfort zone and try something different. We can’t wait!
Our creative P&C have their Crazy Hair Day this Thursday (1st June 2023) for a gold coin donation so I encourage your child/ren to participate. We are looking forward to seeing some super styles!
We are now accepting Kindergarten enrolments for 2024 and would encourage you to share with any family or community members that might be looking at enrolling to come and have a chat with us. As you know, we have an excellent Early Childhood program with caring and knowledgeable educators. Our students diverse needs are catered for in a modern and engaging environment and we would love to see this continue to grow.
We hope you all have a wonderful few weeks and as a school we continue to “Strive to Succeed”.
Kind regards,
Jemima Tomlinson
Principal
Friendly School Plus Program
As a school, we take bullying and anti-social behaviour very seriously. It is imperative that our students and staff feel safe coming to school. Our Friendly Schools Plus Program which is done in our classrooms, allows us to teach students about what to do if they encounter bullying. Sometimes though, parents and caregivers are the ones who find out first that bullying is happening. Here are some tips on what you can do as a family if your child mentions they are being bullied at school.
