From the Principal

Welcome to Week 6! What an amazing few weeks we have had here at Waddington PS.

Our jumble sale is on TODAY! Join us in the undercover area 3pm – 4pm, we have lots of items (big and small!).

You may have noticed our beautiful new playground in our Early Childhood area. The students got to try it out on Friday, and they were VERY excited! This is a wonderful addition to our school and we hope you love it as much as we do.

This Thursday, we will be having another COVID clinic in the library from 2pm – 4pm if you would like to get a follow up vaccination (or your very first one). You can also get your flu vaccination. There is no booking required, you can just walk in and everyone from the community is welcome.

Father’s Day is fast approaching and next Friday 2nd September our P&C have organised their Father’s Day Stall and Raffle. Please support our P&C next week!

Our Faction Carnival is also coming up on the 7th September. Our wonderful P&C will be doing a sausage sizzle on the day, so if you think you can help, they would love the assistance! Please see Jessica if you can volunteer your time.

On the 21st September, Waddington PS will be having it’s School Review. This is where representatives from the Department come in and have a look at our programs, progress and achievement. They are going to meet with our staff, students and some of our board and parent representatives. We are really looking forward to having them see our school and all of the positive things we are doing here at Waddington PS.

A reminder that we have our Uniform Shop run by Ms Swaine open EVERY Friday, 3:00pm – 3:20pm. A reminder that we do not allow hoodies at Waddington PS. School photos are just around the corner on the 5th September, so make sure you have your child’s uniform ready.

Kind regards

Jemima Tomlinson

We have been busy in Room 4 this Term as we focus in on narratives and improve our use of dialogue and building settings. We have been making great progress in our writing and reading as we  head into book week.  In Maths we have been working on mental computation strategies particularly focussing on multiplication and division.

We constantly endevour to be sustainable at Waddington and we try to incorporate sustainability into Design and Technology each term, currently we are building greenhouses to study the effect they have on the growth of plants.

At Waddington we always try to reinforce healthy living and this Semester we have been learning about healthy choices pertaining to drugs, particularly caffeine, nicotine and medicines. We are looking forward to Veggie Week to further educate the students on healthy food choices.

We have a jam packed term including our practice for the sports carnival, the first aid incursion, the vaccine clinic and the book week parade. It should be an amazing term!

Week 5 Incursions

Last week was a busy one at Waddington with a focus on Science Week and Book Week.

On Tuesday 16th August we held an afternoon where parents had the opportunity to make a bee hotel with their child. It was lovely to see so many families attend. Thank you to Ms Hoff for organising this awesome afternoon!

On Wednesday the 17th August students attended an incursion presented by Eco Action about native bees.

Then to round out the week students had Perform! Education come and entertain us for the Book Week theme ‘Dreaming with Eyes Open’. It was a wonderful show jam packed with songs and high energy dancing. Thank you to Ms Chivers for organising this fantastic incursion.
