Dear Waddington Families,
As we come to the end of another busy and rewarding term, I want to thank you for your ongoing support of our school.
It was wonderful to see so many families at the Faction Carnival—your encouragement and enthusiasm made the day extra special for our students as they proudly took part.
Since Week 6, our students and community have enjoyed a variety of events and experiences:
- Year 5/6 Camp – a highlight of the year, giving students the opportunity to challenge themselves, build independence and strengthen friendships.
- Jumps and Throws Carnival and Athletics Carnival – fantastic displays of persistence, teamwork and sportsmanship. Congratulations to Kawlool who were the overall winners on 1258 points! Marloo was a not too far behind on 1217 points. Congratulations to all the Champion Girls and Boys and Runners Up from Year 1 to Year 6. We look forward to having you represent the school at our Interschool Athletics Carnival being held at Waddington Primary School on Friday 17 October (week 1).
- P&C Sausage Sizzle & Cake Stall – thank you to our P&C and parent helpers for organising this fundraiser, raising funds to support future school initiatives.
- Family Afternoon Tea – a lovely opportunity to connect as a school community and celebrate our shared achievements. We look forward to hosting another Family afternoon Tea next term on the 26 November.
- NAIDOC Day at Balga SHS – our students took part in meaningful activities, recognising and celebrating Aboriginal culture, history and achievements.
- In term Swimming – students will be participating in swimming lessons for the last two weeks of term, building confidence and vital water safety skills.
- Book Fair – this is coming up in Week 10. The fair will be held over 3 days from 22/09 to 24/09/25. This is a wonderful way to end the term, encouraging a love of reading and giving families a chance to explore new books together. Thank you so much to Ms Smith for organising the fair.
Thank you once again for being such an important part of our school community. Your presence and support at these events make a huge difference in the lives of our students.
Warm wishes,
Ms Katherine Chivers

Why It’s Important to Be On Time for School
Being on time is a key skill that helps students succeed both in school and in life.
Why is being on time so important?
- More Learning Time: When students arrive on time, they don’t miss out on important lessons and activities. Every minute counts, and being there from the start helps them fully participate in the day’s learning.
- Fewer Disruptions: Late arrivals can interrupt the class. When everyone is on time, the day starts smoothly and everyone benefits.
- Builds Responsibility: Being punctual helps students learn to be responsible and manage their time well. These skills are important for their future.
- Better Academic Performance: Regular attendance and being on time are linked to better grades. Students who are punctual are more likely to be active in class and do well in their studies.
- Shows Respect: Being on time shows respect for teachers, classmates, and the school community. It shows a commitment to learning and the importance of education.
We know mornings can be tough, but with a bit of planning, we can make sure our students start their day right. Let’s make being on time a priority and help our students succeed!
PLEASE NOTE: Students who arrive after 9.55am miss more than half of the morning lessons. This will be marked as an unauthorised absence and will need an explanation.

Family Afternoon Tea – Week 7
Thank you to the families who joined us for our Family Afternoon Tea in Week 7. We hope you all enjoyed chatting with staff and meeting representatives from the Smith Family, Ngala, Communicare and Wanslea.
We are so lucky to have these valuable support services in our community and engaging with Waddington Primary School. Watch out for the invitation to our next afternoon tea in Term 4 on November, 26th.

Breakfast Club – Thank you Woolworths Mirrabooka!
We would like to acknowledge with thanks Woolworths Mirrabooka for supporting our schools breakfast club, our students appreciate you!

Room 4 – Busy little bees!
We have been busy little bees in Room 4.
We have enjoyed studying The Stone Lion and The Snail and the Whale for our novel studies in Literacy.
In Maths, we have been continuing with our number work, as well as learning about Australian notes and coins, adding money, and giving change.
In HASS we have been learning about Australia’s place on the world map, suburbs and addresses, as well as how the postal system works. We have been exploring healthy eating in Health, including creating a lunch box filled with foods from the five main food groups.
A recent highlight in Room 4 has definitely been the Athletics Carnival! We enjoyed participating, and watching our friends win races and medals. We all showed persistence and courage, knowing that every game or race we participated in earnt faction points. We wrote our recounts of the day and enjoyed sharing our highlights with our friends.
We are also very excited about our upcoming swimming lessons; it will be a wonderful way to finish up Term 3.
